The origin of the Arctic Fox Initiative was to protect the endangered Arctic Fox which is also Fjällräven's namesake. Today, for us at Fjällräven, the arctic fox has become more than just a conservation project, it is a symbol for our efforts to protect nature and support initiatives that have the same goal. It is only fitting that since 2019 we have expanded the original aim of the Arctic Fox Initiative to become a global effort with applications received yearly from all over the world.

The Arctic Fox Initiative was launched in 2019 to support projects that aim to protect nature and inspire people to spend time outdoors on an international scale. The origin of the Arctic Fox Initiative was to protect the endangered Arctic Fox which is also Fjällräven's namesake. The Save the Arctic Fox project was created to help Professor Anders Angerbjörn at Stockholm University – who has been studying arctic foxes for 30 years.

Fjällräven lanserar nu Arctic Fox Initiative för att få fler människor att engagera sig i miljön och komma i kontakt med naturen. Initiativet är en språngbräda för nya projekt och smarta idéer som bidrar till att skydda miljön och inspirerar fler människor till att njuta av den.

In 2020 however, WWF Finland was selected as one of four Arctic Fox Initiative recipients. Now the organisation has an additional 40.000 Euro to apply to its efforts to restore arctic fox breeding in Finland. The funds will be put towards two key activities: feeding and surveys of breeding areas. Fjällräven hoppas att Arctic Fox Initiative även ska bidra till liknande positiva förändringar inom andra områden.
